Responsibilities: Tara’s primary responsibility is to take care of all WBR Insurance’s commercial clients. Duties include certificate of insurance, followup, renewals, etc.

Background: Before joining the WBR Team, Tara worked in the assisted living and special needs industry. Tara grew up just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina where she graduated with a BA in therapeutic recreation and minored in gerontology. During her junior year in college Tara met and married her husband of 20 years. After graduation Tara worked as an activities director in an assisted living center. Her husband’s work with the Coast Guard transferred their family to Yorktown, Virginia. After nine years working in the long term care industry, Tara transitioned to working with special needs children for the city of Newport News and with the Special Olympics – South East. In December 16, 2013 Tara earned her MBA from Saint Leo University. Tara and her husband have two boys: 19 and 16. Her husband is currently a Virginia Beach police officer with the third precinct where he has served for 14 years.

Future Goals: After retiring, Tara hopes to teach at a local college, and travel with her husband.

Community Involvement: Tara is actively involved with the Young Marines with her son. The Young Marines is a non-profit youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through 18. Following the military structure and drills of the U.S. Marine Corps, Young Marines learn survival techniques, physical training, hiking, swimming, rock climbing, rappelling, scuba diving, etc., and undergo leadership training. Tara volunteers as the paymaster for her unit, and is responsible for all matters pertaining to the finances of the unit. Her son is currently a sergeant within the unit. In addition to her work with the Young Marines, Tara is a volunteer with the Virginia Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT immediately responds to emergencies before first responders arrive on scene and perform light search and rescue, triage and first aid. Tara is also FEMA certified.
