WBR Owner Spotlight: Meet Clay Robertson

Name: Clay Robertson

Title: Agency Principal

Started: Formed WBR Insurance in 2006

Building more than just a business, Clay Robertson, one of the three WBR Agency Principals, believes strongly in serving the community in which he lives. He values giving care and protection for his clients while they find their means of success in life. “A successful business is about being a positive influence in the community and with the people I work with,” says Robertson.

As an Agency Principal, Robertson focuses on outside marketing, communication and creating centers of influence for the agency and its accounts. He also works with his partners to research and identify potential acquisitions for the company. This strategic plan has accounted for the company’s rapid growth. Additionally Robertson works with commercial insurance lines on a daily basis.

For Robertson, the long term success both personal and business, is measured based on the employees he works with and the customers he serves. “I want to be conscientious of the people I interact with by listening effectively and caring about what they are doing and wanting to achieve,” says Robertson.

Experienced with all lines of insurance from personal coverage to commercial coverage for businesses, Robertson has been in the insurance industry for twenty years. Partnering with John Wilson and Alex Bell in 2006, WBR Insurance gave Robertson not only the opportunity to grow a successful business, but also to fulfill personal dreams in caring for his family and performing missionary work.

Long time resident in Hampton Roads, Robertson has been married to a “phenomenal lady,” Andrea, for 23 years. They have two children: Abby and Blake. During his free time, Robertson’s volunteer positions in the community include: baseball coach at Greenbrier Christian and Hampton Roads, advisor at NICE Second Chance Athletics where he helps inner city youth pursue their dreams in life, and board member at Men for Hope where he provides the manpower to help organizations that help others. In addition he is also an advisor for local business start-ups in the area.
